Why We’re Happy with 2 under 2

Surprise!!!!! If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you saw around Christmas we announced that we are adding to our little family! ❤ The beginning of March, we had an ultrasound to see what Baby #2 is, and found out, to our surprise, that we’re having another boy! (My husband was thrilled- he doesn’t have to build another room onto the house! Lol)

Of course we were congratulated, but a lot of people asked us why we were pregnant again, if this baby was a “surprise” or even if it was planned. What in the world makes people ask such nosy and intimate questions?

We actually were surprised that I was pregnant because of some health issues I had been having. We actually thought I was pregnant about 3 months beforehand but turned out I had a huge ovarian cyst. Hence, we were told I wouldn’t be able to get pregnant for a while. The Lord had other plans.

There are lots of reasons we’re happy with the boys’ age gap (#2’s due date is 1 month before Caleb’s 2nd birthday). Lots of them are personal preference…. And my very wise sister-in-law had always told me that the 2 year age gap is her favorite. I also noticed Caleb got along well with those around 2 years older than him and those children played well with him.

How often or even how many children people have is their business and their business only. If they’re not taking handouts from the government, and especially if the people are married- let them choose their own path. For us, we believe that children are a blessing from the Lord and should be wanted & celebrated.

We’re so excited to be welcoming this baby in about 20 weeks!!

My Three Must-Haves for the Third Trimester

Okay, okay, so I’m not pregnant anymore. I know. But I was very much pregnant just a few months ago. I went above and beyond the normal ~40 weeks being pregnant. I was pregnant for 43 weeks! So, I totally know all about third trimester pregnancy pains!

Third Trimester

My #1 must have for ALL during the pregnancy, but especially the third trimester, is Young Living’s Gentle Baby blend. It’s wonderful! It’s calming, great to diffuse, and is great massaged into your growing belly!

Number two would be a belly band. Now, unfortunately, I never got one of these. And I SO wish I did! By the end my back and lower belly were so uncomfortable from the extra wight. My midwives kept telling me to get a belly band to wear while I was sleeping, and any major things I was doing. I should have listened to their advice!

Another great thing for third trimester sleep a boppy wedge pillow! I seriously (finally) got one the week Caleb was born, but it definitely helped my lower back pain in the night. Plus, there was less stress on my belly that way!

{Pregnancy Friendly} Ways to Naturally Detox Your Body

You have probably heard how you can’t detox while you’re pregnant and/or breastfeeding. And that’s true. Mostly. Did you know your body has a natural detoxification process? And that there are easy and effective ways to safely help detox your body of nasty chemicals and toxins, even while pregnant?

Today I want to share with y’all three natural, safe, and gentle ways to detox your body.

Detox Naturally

#1- Oil Pulling- have you heard of it? Coconut oil is the best thing for this. Simply just get a spoonful of coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth like mouthwash to help get rid of nasty germs and toxins out of your mouth. But do NOT swallow the used oil!! When you are finished, spit it out in the garbage or toilet. Gently brush your teeth afterwards. You can also add Young Living’s essential oils to get even more benefits! I love using Orange Oil to help whiten my teeth, or Thieve’s oil to help kill bacteria.

#2- Bath Soaks- what better way to relax and unwind than a soak? But if you add baking soda and epsom salts (again, add essential oils to make it even better!), you have a gentle and effective way to detox your body and help balance your pH levels. I also love to dry brush my body before getting in to soak; it helps me feel even better!

#3- Drink Lemon Water- I wrote a whole post on the benefits of drinking lemon water every day (read it HERE), but it’s also beneficial for pregnant women. Here’s the trick to drinking it every day, though- you have to drink water with lemon oil, not squeezed lemon juice. Young Living’s Lemon Oil comes from the rind of the fruit. Not only is that healthier, but it’s not acidy so it doesn’t eat the enamel off of your teeth. Wonderful!
