Mama’s Sanity {Unicorn Roller}

Emotions. Feelings. We, as women, can have a lot of them all at once. The two best things that help me during crazy times? More Jesus time and lots of oils. ‚̧

16357321_1085467648247058_511962260_o.jpg

I always start with a drop or two of Stress Away on my wrist and Caleb’s little wrists. He loves getting oils put on him! He smells it and says, “Mmmm!”. If Caleb will play nicely (inside or out), I’ll settle down with my Bible and pray some and seek the Lord.

My other secret weapon? The unicorn roller blend! Oh…my….y’all. It’s amazing!! I mixed mine up in an old oil bottle and put a roller top on it, then decorated it with washi tape. Caleb also likes this blend, but I try to keep it to myself! ūüėČ

Milk Supply Support

I am still nursing my baby. He’s over one now and I’d love to nurse him until two or a little longer if he wants to. But, when I started the 21 Day Fix and portioning my food (and cutting back on fats), it seemed my milk supply dropped some. Because he is over one and eating food, ¬†and I really am ready to lose the rest of this weight, I decided to keep with the portion containers and just do some things to naturally help support my milk supply.

milk-supply-support

Besides putting a teaspoon of coconut oil in my morning Shakeology, I’ve been doing two things that have really helped my supply a ton! And I notice the increase almost immediately.

Drinking Mother’s Milk Tea

I get this organic Mother’s Milk Tea from my local Wal-Mart and it definitely works! I brew a bag of the MMT and a Chai blend together, with just a little bit of honey. I drink this mid-afternoon. It’s a good reminder to sit for a minute, read a few pages in a book and just relax. Sometimes it’s the only quiet time I have in a day!

Apply 2-4 drops of Fennel Oil

I’ve known for a long time that Fennel helps with milk supply (it’s also in the MMT), but because I had such a large supply early on with Caleb, I never needed to use it. Every morning after my shower, and also right before bed, part of my oily routine now is to apply 2-4 drops of Fennel oil on my chest. If I don’t feel like my supply is very low, I just do one drop for each side, applied topically. But if Caleb’s nursed longer or acted hungry after nursing, I’d apply 2 drops each side and definitely notice an increase quickly.

Both of these things are inexpensive and so easy to do, just to give my supply a little help. Have you had to do anything to increase your supply? What have you done?

Hannah Diane

How I Use Oils on my Baby

All throughout my pregnancy, I used Young Living oils for feeling my best. If I had a longer birth experience, I totally would have used them for that, too! ūüėČ So it is totally natural for me to use oils on my baby….here are my favorites & why I use them!

oils-on-my-baby

When using oils on your baby (or child), V6 or coconut oil will become your BFF. Known as a carrier oil, it helps make the oils “go further” and it also helps dilute some of the hotter oils for baby’s sensitive skin.

I have used these 6 oils since my son was 6hrs old. He is currently a year old and, although we add different oils for different occasions, these are STILL my go-to oils for him!

I use 1 drop of R.C. diluted in V6 on his chest. RC stands for Respiratory Care.

A drop of Valor (or Valor II) on the base of his neck after a chiropractic adjustment.

2-3 drops of Gentle Baby on his head before bed. This is great for skin- it definitely helps his cradle cap, and it’s also a calming, relaxing scent.

Diluted Thieves on his feet! I do this before bed, when he gets up, and before we go into town. A baby can use all the immune system support he can get!

Tranquil & Rutavala; this is the bedtime duo! If I forget to apply these to Caleb, he doesn’t sleep/nap as soundly, nor does he go to sleep quite as quickly! I roll Tranquil on behind his ears and Rutavala on his big toes.

I hope this helps you on your path of a healthy lifestyle! If you want more information on Young Living, check out my page here, or if you’re ready to jump feet first into a oily lifestyle & join my community, you can sign up HERE.

Blackberry Crisp

Blackberry Crisp

What’s better than spending a warm summer evening blackberry picking? A couple weeks ago when Luke was working late, I packed up Little Man and went to my in-love’s place to do just that! It was lots of fun riding in the back of trucks, smelling the warm breeze and spending time with family. Plus, I got a little more than 1/2 gallon of blackberries!

13615459_925800850880406_451425931123515492_n

{My sister-in-law, Myra & me, baby-wearing while picking blackberries!}

Of course I wanted to make something with those plump, juicy blackberries….but all the recipes I had were non-THM, and that wouldn’t do! So I put together a few different recipes and came up with this one! It’s super yummy!

IMG_0726

Blackberry Crisp “E”

Ingredients-
Blackberries (I used around 5 cups for my pie plate)
1/8 tsp. xanthan gum or glucomamman
6 drops of Young Living‘s Lemon Vitality Oil
1 cup oats
1 cup oat flour (oats ground into flour)
1/4 cup of THM‘s¬†Sweet blend (or 6 stevia packets from Walmart)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. butter
2 tbsp. water

Directions-
Preheat oven to 350. Pour blackberries, xanthan gum or gluccie and lemon oil in pie pan and gently stir together (this saves using another bowl!). Mix the remaining ingredients gently & thouroughly. Spread over blackberries and bake for 30 minutes. Enjoy!

Luke was so excited I made this, and it was SO simple, easy and yummy!

Cleaning My Baby’s Toys

I’m not a germaphobe. Really, I promise. Letting your child be exposed to some germs is perfectly fine. I mean, you can’t hide them away forever! I personally don’t disinfect all my child’s toys or anything they put in their mouth…plus, bleach? No way. I haven’t ever owned any in my life!

Why I Clean My Baby's Toys

So, what do I use? I use this amazing stuff called Thieves Cleaner! It’s so awesome, I’m in love!

I absolutely love that it doesn’t have any nasty chemicals or fragrances that could hurt my baby. It’s just another part of having a chemical-free, healthy home!

So, how do I clean the toys? If it can be in the water, I just put some thieves dish soap & warm water in the sink, soak the toys, rinse¬†and let dry. Easy peasy! If the toy needs to be “spot cleaned”, I just put some thieves cleaner on a rag, and clean the toys. I usually do this before & after I have other children in our home.

Clean My Baby Toys

I am so thankful for all of Young Living’s products that help me keep my home toxin free, while supporting our immune system! Would you like to know more about Young Living? Surviving the First Month Postpartum

And just like that, Caleb is a month old. ¬†Sometimes it feels like he was just born, and sometimes it feels like we’ve had him forever. Crazy, huh?

Having a newborn is amazing. It’s really, really hard, but amazing. I am so thankful the Lord chose us to be parents before we ever thought we would.

There were quite a few things I did every day to help keep my sanity during the first month after Caleb was born. Most days I did it by myself, and no one was around to help me. But sometimes my mom, mother in law, or grandma were around to give me time to myself, and for that, I am very grateful! My grandmother warned me about Postpartum Depression (or Baby Blues, as she calls them), and since I’ve had a history of anxiety problems, I really didn’t want to get PPD. (I wasn’t worried, but I believe doing these “normal” things helped keep my sanity!)

Postpartum

#1- Shower every day! No, seriously. I’m not kidding. All these people warned me that I would go days, even weeks, without showering. I know they were kidding, kind of, but I was determined not to do that. Something about getting clean just makes you feel better about yourself and more person-like. Yes, I even showered the day Caleb was born.

#2- Change out of your pajamas. Even if it’s into yoga pants or lounge pants, get out of the clothes you slept in. It’ll make you feel better, I promise.

#3- Stretch & lightly exercise. I started this after about three days PP. Just start with light stretches, then add walking, or easy floor exercises to help those muscles go back into place.

#4- Chose one chore (or two) to get done. Okay, so I’m a neat freak. I h-a-t-e seeing my house dirty and a mess. By the third week PP I was keeping the house like normal, but the first two weeks I just focused on one or two things to get done the whole day. Like, wash the dishes or sweep the floor.

#5- Eat & drink lots. Seriously, eat tons of healthy food. That’s why I love the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle, because if I felt like I needed carbs, I ate healthy carbs, and if I needed both fats and carbs, I did that too! But really, you need to eat and DRINK lots to keep your body healthy and your milk supply up.

#6- Rest. Don’t overdo it. I have a problem with that. Because Postpartum Depression is a very real thing, and I didn’t want to get it, I didn’t rest unless I felt like I needed it. Making me be in bed/on the couch for 6 weeks resting would have sent me straight into a bad case of PPD. Just saying. Definitely rest, but only when you need it.

#7- Get outside (if the weather’s nice). With the baby or without the baby. Doesn’t matter. Although, the sun would do Baby good, too. Some days we both spent time outside, and sometimes I just sat on the back porch during nap time, enjoying the quiet.

#8- Play music. I love music, so during Caleb’s “awake and happy” times, we listened to hymns the whole time. I sang along, and he enjoyed the music and me being silly (although, that probably won’t last long! Ha).

#9- Use Young Living Oils. Seriously. They are so versatile! And perfectly safe for my little one’s skin. We loved using them for all kinds of normal PP & newborn issues, and diffusing them for uplifting spirits. So thankful for them!

What would you add to the list? What helped you through the first month Postpartum?

Sincerely,
Hannah Diane

My Best Friends for Working Out

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s been a while since I posted a Fitness Friday post, but I thought I would change it up a bit. Today, I want to share with you two must-haves when it comes to working out. Even though I am into my third trimester, I’m still trying to work out at least a couple times a week.

My Best Friends for Working Out

Deep ReliefРanyone who has tried this oil loves it. It was formulated to use for massage after activity. Peppermint, Wintergreen, Copaiba, Helichrysum, Dorado Azul, and other essential oils each play an integral role in this blend. Deep Relief Roll-On has an invigorating and energizing scent, and offers a convenient method of application for forehead, temples, and neck anytime, anywhere it’s needed.

Fitness by Oola– this blend has been specially formulated to uplift, energize, and give you the inspiration to set and achieve your strength and fitness goals. I love putting it on before I work out- I just apply it to my wrists and start working out!

Do you have any must-haves for working out?

Second Trimester Must-Haves

Happy Thursday! Even though I am into my third trimester, I wanted to share with y’all some of my favorite oils and supplements I used to help me through my second trimester.

Second Trimester

It’s funny. Everyone always says the second trimester is the easiest…not for me! So far my third trimester has been a piece of cake!

Digestive System

These four oils are an amazing digestive support team!

AromaEase was formulated for pregnant women to help with stomach upsets that come with pregnancy. Such a blessing!

Peppermint is one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for supporting normal digestion, including promoting healthy intestinal function and gastrointestinal system comfort. And who doesn’t need comfort, especially during pregnancy?

DiGize is a great dietary supplement, and you can use it daily to support your digestive system.

Everyone always talks about the amazing benefits of drinking lemon water- and using lemon oil is even more simple! I use it every day in my water to help my keep my digestive system working normally.

Emotional Support

Everyone knows while we’re pregnant, we’re a little more….emotional. And emotions aren’t a bad thing….they’re super normal. But these four oils are amazing for calming, settling and uplifting. I’m especially loving Stress Away and Joy….and I’m sure my sweet little Caleb is, too! You can diffuse these oils, or just apply them to your wrists for a wonderful perfume!

Skin Support

My Lavender Hand and Body Lotion is perfect for bringing life back to your skin because it is an¬†all-natural lightweight moisturizer infused with skin-loving lavender essential oil. Added nutrients such as wolfberry seed and jojoba oils fortify your skin’s natural moisture barrier to maintain long-lasting hydration. Talk about wonderful for any stretching skin!

Gentle Baby was formulated for mothers and babies. It is so soothing to tender skin. And don’t forget it’s uplifting, too!

Snacks and SupplementsMy favorite part….snacks! Lol. These are my go-to essentials for my health supplements and snacks!

The NingXia Nitro combines 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils with naturally powerful ingredients to clear the mind and enhance mental fitness, while also providing a boost of energy and daily pick-me-up when needed. And everyone knows you can always use more energy when pregnant!

Balance Complete is a super-food-based meal replacement that is both a powerful nutritive energizer and a cleanser.¬†Balance Complete also features Young Living’s proprietary V-Fiber blend, which supplies an amazing 11 grams of fiber per serving, absorbs toxins, and satisfies the appetite while balancing the body’s essential requirements. I loved, loved, loved having my balance complete smoothie for a snack! Mix a scoop of it with some almond milk and frozen berries. Yum!

I enjoyed NingXia Red daily to energize, fortify, and revitalize the body and support overall health and wellness, from head to toe. Not only do I love this, but Luke would drink a daily dose, too!

What were your favorite things to use during your second trimester?
