Mama’s Sanity {Unicorn Roller}

Emotions. Feelings. We, as women, can have a lot of them all at once. The two best things that help me during crazy times? More Jesus time and lots of oils. ā¤

16357321_1085467648247058_511962260_o.jpg

I always start with a drop or two of Stress Away on my wrist and Caleb’s little wrists. He loves getting oils put on him! He smells it and says, “Mmmm!”. If Caleb will play nicely (inside or out), I’ll settle down with my Bible and pray some and seek the Lord.

My other secret weapon? The unicorn roller blend! Oh…my….y’all. It’s amazing!! I mixed mine up in an old oil bottle and put a roller top on it, then decorated it with washi tape. Caleb also likes this blend, but I try to keep it to myself! šŸ˜‰

Speedy Peppermint Brownies

Y’all, just like fall means everything pumpkin, to me, winter time means everything peppermint! And even though winter doesn’t start for a few more weeks, it’s December now, so we can pretend, right?

speedy-peppermint-brownies

I love me a good, warm, chewy brownie. Brownies are so easy to whip up in a hurry, so it’s my favorite go-to thing to make for a pitch-in or party! And during the winter….I have to make them peppermint!

peppermint-brownies

Speedy Peppermint Brownies

Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1 3/4 cup flour (I’ll even add some whole wheat and no one notices)
1/2 cup cacao powder (if you use regular cocoa powder, scale back some of the sugar)
1 tsp. salt
5 eggs
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp vanilla
5-10 drops of Young Living’s Peppermint Vitality oil
1 cup dark chocolate chips

Recipe:
In mixing bowl, combine first 8 ingredients & beat until smooth. Pour into greased 13×9 baking pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips (and Christmas sprinkles if desired!) over the top. Bale at 350 for 30 minutes or toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10-15 mins and enjoy!

See how quick and easy that was? What’s your favorite dessert to make during the holidays?

Milk Supply Support

I am still nursing my baby. He’s over one now and I’d love to nurse him until two or a little longer if he wants to. But, when I started the 21 Day Fix and portioning my food (and cutting back on fats), it seemed my milk supply dropped some. Because he is over one and eating food, Ā and I really am ready to lose the rest of this weight, I decided to keep with the portion containers and just do some things to naturally help support my milk supply.

milk-supply-support

Besides putting a teaspoon of coconut oil in my morning Shakeology, I’ve been doing two things that have really helped my supply a ton! And I notice the increase almost immediately.

Drinking Mother’s Milk Tea

I get this organic Mother’s Milk Tea from my local Wal-Mart and it definitely works! I brew a bag of the MMT and a Chai blend together, with just a little bit of honey. I drink this mid-afternoon. It’s a good reminder to sit for a minute, read a few pages in a book and just relax. Sometimes it’s the only quiet time I have in a day!

Apply 2-4 drops of Fennel Oil

I’ve known for a long time that Fennel helps with milk supply (it’s also in the MMT), but because I had such a large supply early on with Caleb, I never needed to use it. Every morning after my shower, and also right before bed, part of my oily routine now is to apply 2-4 drops of Fennel oil on my chest. If I don’t feel like my supply is very low, I just do one drop for each side, applied topically. But if Caleb’s nursed longer or acted hungry after nursing, I’d apply 2 drops each side and definitely notice an increase quickly.

Both of these things are inexpensive and so easy to do, just to give my supply a little help. Have you had to do anything to increase your supply? What have you done?

Hannah Diane

How I Use Oils on my Baby

All throughout my pregnancy, I used Young Living oils for feeling my best. If I had a longer birth experience, I totally would have used them for that, too! šŸ˜‰ So it is totally natural for me to use oils on my baby….here are my favorites & why I use them!

oils-on-my-baby

When using oils on your baby (or child), V6 or coconut oil will become your BFF. Known as a carrier oil, it helps make the oils “go further” and it also helps dilute some of the hotter oils for baby’s sensitive skin.

I have used these 6 oils since my son was 6hrs old. He is currently a year old and, although we add different oils for different occasions, these are STILL my go-to oils for him!

I use 1 drop of R.C. diluted in V6 on his chest. RC stands for Respiratory Care.

A drop of Valor (or Valor II) on the base of his neck after a chiropractic adjustment.

2-3 drops of Gentle Baby on his head before bed. This is great for skin- it definitely helps his cradle cap, and it’s also a calming, relaxing scent.

Diluted Thieves on his feet! I do this before bed, when he gets up, and before we go into town. A baby can use all the immune system support he can get!

Tranquil & Rutavala; this is the bedtime duo! If I forget to apply these to Caleb, he doesn’t sleep/nap as soundly, nor does he go to sleep quite as quickly! I roll Tranquil on behind his ears and Rutavala on his big toes.

I hope this helps you on your path of a healthy lifestyle! If you want more information on Young Living, check out my page here, or if you’re ready to jump feet first into a oily lifestyle & join my community, you can sign up HERE.

Super Easy DIY Cloth Baby Wipes

Happy Monday! Did you know I started using cloth diapers on Caleb a couple months ago? We’re loving it! I love that we’re using less chemicals, easier on the environment, and they are better for his skin!

DIY Cloth Wipes

But then, we ran into a problem. What do we do about wipes? You’ll have to have a separate bag for the disposable wipes and the cloth diapers….and it just wasn’t fun! So, my friend who taught me all about cloth diapers helped me out with making my own wipes. It’s so cheap, easy and chemical free!

You’ll need:

24 baby washclothes

Wipe container

Epsom salts

Young Living Lavender Oil

Water

Quart Jar

Directions:

MixĀ 6-10 drops of lavender oil &Ā 2 tablespoons Epsom salts in a quart jar. Slowly add 2 cups hot water and stir until dissolved. Put 6 washcloths in the bottom of the wipe container, then pour 1/2 cup of the mixture over the 6 washcloths. Continue with the rest of the washcloths. You might have to play around with the amount of water for your desired “wetness” of the wipes.

Wipes

It’s that quick, easy & affordable!

And now through June 30, 2016, the Premium Starter Kit (which includes lavender!) is 10% off! You can sign up HERE, or learn more HERE.

Our Must-Haves for Teething

Y’all, motherhood is awesome. It’s also crazy hard sometimes. You bring home this new bundle of joy and you’re completely in love. Then reality hits….hel-lo, this little person needs your constant attention, time and love. It does get easier though….until teething hits.

New moms and moms-to-be….teething can hit wayyyyy sooner than you ever thought or dreamed. My little one started teething at the ripe old age of 2 months old. His first tooth popped through at 5 months old (yes, 3 months of painful teething with nothing to show for it!), and his second one is almost through and he’s 6 months old. Just because my boy got teeth that early doesn’t mean that’s what will happen with your sweet baby. But when teething hits…Mama, you’d better be prepared!

Teething Must Haves

Today I want to share with you some of my FAVORITE products for handling teething discomfort for your poor baby. And moms-to-be, don’t put off getting this stuff for after baby is born…make sure you have the stuff now! It will will be here sooner than you think!

Teething Supplies

The first thing I got Caleb was an amber necklace. NO, I don’t put it around his neck. I have lots of friends who let their babies do that, and that’s fine for them. That’s just not for me; I don’t feel comfortable with it. Amber beads are known for helping relieve pain. People ask me if I think it really works…and I believe it does! If we forget to put it back on his ankle after his bath, he’s definitely hurting and crankier. Once I put it back on, he settles down. SUCH a blessing! And, it’s super adorable and people are always commenting on it! šŸ™‚ I got mine from a local herb shop, but I know you can get some on amazon.

IMG_0455

Say hello to Caleb’s favorite things! The amazing Sara from Saraisms sent Caleb these adorable teething rings! As the mom who cares about what goes into my son’s mouth, I appreciate that the wood is organic and so much safer than plastic!

Teething Lovie

He adores snuggling with his teething lovey as he takes a nap, or on a chilly day out and about. I love the print- it’s so fun! The fabric piece can snap off so you can wash it when it gets soiled- so perfect!

Teething Toy

The teething toy can keep Caleb happy for a long time. Especially when he tooth is cutting, he will just sit in his highchair, chewing on and tossing it around. šŸ™‚ It’s super handy to keep in my diaper bag, too!

Teething Young Living

These oils are SUCH a blessing to have to help relieve teething discomfort! The above things I mentioned usually keep his fussiness and discomfort to a minimum, but on those really rough days….the big guns get brought it!

In my hand, I dilute a drop of Frankincense Vitality and a drop of Thieves Vitality with a “squirt” of V6 carrier oil and rub on his gums. He really enjoys it!

Teething Oils

I also rub Lavender & Copaiba undiluted along his jaw line. It always helps him calm down and stop acting like he’s uncomfortable. šŸ™‚ And ALL of these oils come in the starter kit! You can learn more about Young Living HERE or sign up under me HERE, and I will send you a freeĀ guidebook to using oils with babies!

How did you get through the “terrible teething time”? How did you help ease your baby’s teething discomfort? It always hurts my “mama heart” to see him uncomfortable!

Sincerely,
Hannah Diane

DIY Linen Spray

Happy Tuesday! Who else has freezing weather this week? I’m not really sure how I feel about it….I mean, if it’s not going to snow, please don’t be this cold. Ahem.

Today I want to share with you one of my favorite DIY natural products! I’m all about getting rid of chemical-laden products, and using natural things instead.

DIY Linen Spray

This is super-duper easy to make, and I love having it on hand!

Ingredients:
Water
Witch Hazel
8-10 drops of Young Living oil of choice (I used 5 drops Thieves, 5 drops Purification)

Directions:
Fill the bottom of bottle with witch hazel and the rest of the bottle with water. Add oils, mix well and use!

I love using this on our couch, on non-washable pillows and rugs. I love that it’s purifying the air, and it smells so good…without chemicals!! šŸ™‚
