I’ve been reading Elizabeth George’s book “A Woman’s High Calling”, and let me just say….it has been a tremendous blessing to me! Believe it or not, the main passage she works us through is not Proverbs 31…it’s Titus 2. She reminds us that we always need to look for the “older women” in our lives…but we are always to remember that we ourselves are “older women” to someone. That all godly women should be growing in these 10 areas of Godly living. So what are they?
- Godliness
- Godly speech
- Personal Discipline
- Encouraging others
- Her marriage- whether single or married!
- Loving her family
- Wisdom
- Purity
- Her home
- Goodness
Wow! Isn’t that amazing? All of that is in Titus 2. Here is what the King James version says, “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed”. Sobering, isn’t it? All of us Godly women should be growing in these 10 areas and to reach out to the “younger women” in our lives.
Is there an older woman in your life who you look up to? Have you ever noticed any younger women who follow what you say or do? What can you do today to be an example?
Sincerely,
Hannah Diane
